Somehow everything Rihanna does feels like a breath of fresh air. From the star's reimagining of pregnancy style to her cosmetics and music ventures, there's seemingly nothing she can't do. The latest trend we've noticed Rihanna dawning is matching her eye look to her outfit — which makes a case for colorful eyeliners above the mask and experimentative makeup choices that complement your day-to-day outfits. And it should come as no surprise that this decision is rather calculated.

"Our makeup inspiration always comes from fashion first," Priscilla Ono, the makeup artist responsible for many Rihanna or Fenty Beauty looks, told Vogue. "Depending on the look we can then decide on the style of makeup. Whether it be a classic or modern style. Then when it comes to color, we love either a complementing shade (opposite attracting colors like on a color wheel) or monochromatic which is one of our favorites as you can tell."

Of course, years spent sporting masks have made many of us eager to dress up the eye a bit, but the Barbadian-princess's approach to beauty has reenergized us to keep up the fun. (That and Euphoria of course!) Ready to try the trend for yourself? We've gathered four instances when Rihanna has found the ideal harmony between fashion and beauty.

In celebration of Fenty Beauty's launch at Ulta, Rihanna wore a custom Coperni crop top and shimmering maxi skirt, showing off her baby bump. The silver fit was complemented by a silver metallic eye look perfected by Ono. While the makeup artist isn't at liberty to share the product behind that pigmented silver, the rest of the eye featured the Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Palette in True Neutrals. Otherwise, try the brand's Flypencil in Chromewrecker for a more gray matte, or Sephora Collection's liner in Silver instead.

Rihanna sported this red hot look just in time for Valentine's Day. To match her fiery leather coat and hood, Ono etched a striking red liner across her top and bottom waterlines with Fenty Beauty's liner in Cherry Punk. Enhanced by inner- and outer-corner wings, this eye look will live on our mood boards to come.

The notable red look certainly wasn't the pair's first foray into the world of monochromatic liner. In 2020, Rihanna similarly rocked stunning cobalt blue winged liner (across the top and bottom of course) that made her eyes the star of the show — despite her matching blue outfit. For your own blue moment, consider Fenty Beauty's liner in Sea About It or Chanel’s waterproof liner in Bleu Métal.

While at Milan Fashion Week, the star was spotted wearing a sheer mini dress and purple fuzzy Gucci coat complemented by a dreamy purple, smokey eye. Prep for your next berry-hued fits with a Fenty Beauty pencil in Purple Stuff or Urban Decay's bright purple longwear liner in Psychedelic Sister.
